Fuerteventura has a special kind of beauty — raw, windy, wide open, and a little wild.
I visited the island in a van during September and October, driving from one side to the other with no real plan, just following the light and the landscapes.
Among all the places I explored, four of them stayed with me the most.
Here’s a look at the moments that made Fuerteventura unforgettable.
1. The Dunes of Corralejo — Fuerteventura’s Endless Desert
The first place that truly amazed me was the Dunas de Corralejo.
The dunes feel endless — a soft desert touching the ocean. You stand there and everything is wide, open, and quiet.
It’s one of those landscapes that makes you stop for a minute just to take it in.
My photos from here are simple: golden sand, long lines shaped by the wind, and the blue of the sea far away.
Nothing more… and that’s exactly what makes it magic.
2. Playa del Castillo — The True Essence of the Island
If I had to choose one spot that describes the island, it would be Playa del Castillo.
The beach, the strong waves, the ocean stretching forever, the cliffs, and — in the distance — the soft shape of mountains and volcanoes.
Everything about Fuerteventura is here.
It’s a landscape that leaves you without words: rough and peaceful at the same time.
My photos from this beach capture that mix — the movement of the water, the sandy textures, and the warm tones of the coastline.
3. Mirador Sicasumbre: A Sunset in Betancuria
Then there’s Betancuria Natural Park, one of the island’s most impressive places.
I took all my photos from Mirador Sicasumbre, a viewpoint lost in the middle of the hills.
I arrived before sunset, and the sky slowly turned from soft gold to deep orange, then red, and finally violet.
It was the most incredible sunset of the entire trip.
The shapes of the mountains, the silence, and the colors made it feel unreal — a moment you only experience once.
4. Playa del Viejo Reyes: A Hidden Beach at the End of the Cliffs
The last place is Playa del Viejo Reyes, a beach you reach only after walking down a path carved into the cliff.
It feels hidden, almost secret.
Surfers ride the waves, the wind is strong, and the sound of the ocean fills everything around you.
I stayed here until the sun dropped behind the horizon, painting the sky in soft, warm tones.
It was one of those evenings where the light, the waves, and the quiet come together perfectly.
A Final Thought
These four places are just a small part of Fuerteventura, but they are the ones that stayed with me — the ones that made me fall in love with the island’s wild beauty.
If you ever visit, I hope you’ll feel the same sense of freedom I felt while taking these photos.
